The Beloved are Gone

This weekend was a weekend full of emotions and excitement. We began Saturday by packing up the Messy Hair car - which then was nicknamed the “puppy caravan” and headed on the road to Quebec with Jimmy, Isabella, Carolyn, Nora and Hazel. The drive went very well. The little ones didn’t fuss or cry, but rather took notes from their older car companions and slept during the ride. They got out at rest stops, walked on their leashes like the adult dogs, and returned to their crates like good girls and boys.

We arrived in the late evening. We were welcomed by Luc and Marc at the car who helped us unload the three puppies and our girls. Soon Marc and Claudine’s home was full of energy as the three puppies, and the four adult dogs played together.

Shortly after our arrival, all the new puppy families were there too and we began the tough process of letting go. Jimmy went home with his new mommy and daddy. His dad has been waiting a very long time for a new dog and we are so glad that Jimmy has found a home with them. Isabella, now Phoebe, went home with her new mommy, daddy and three human sisters. She is going to have a lot of fun and love throughout her whole life. Then lastly, Carolyn, now Ally, moved in with her new mommy and daddy and her three fur siblings. We have always been fortunate that we find amazing families for our puppies. We have done all we can to prepare them for this day and now they are off - whether we wanted them to go or not.

Our weekend with the puppies was extended as we went to a herding instinct trial at la Bergerie de Falco organized by the Schapendoes Club of Canada. All three puppies attended the event. It was a great social experience for the puppies. Michele even took the puppies to assess their instinct levels. It was so great to watch. When the event was over, we said our goodbyes and left knowing our little ones were in the best homes. We have already received great updates and photos.

Thank you to everyone involved in this weekend’s adventures. We had a great time and extended our family once again with the safe delivery of three more babies to their families. We will miss them- especially as the house is so quiet now, but we know they are with the best families we could ask for.

Puppy Announcement

On August 6th 2019, Hector (CH CKC, GCH FCC Jerrie Storm v.d.Brederwiede BIS Schapendoes Netherland Club 2016) and Audrey (CH CKC, CH UKC Messy Hair's Audrey Hepburn CGN) welcomed three beautiful puppies into the world.  They blessed us with one handsome man and two darling girls.  This past year has had several ups and downs here, the greatest being the loss of my mother in March.  To our surprise, this litter was born on what would have been her 77th birthday.  To honour her and a few other beloved family members, the puppies were named in memory of them: Isabella (my grandmother), Carolyn (my mother) and Jimmy (my father).  So far mom and puppies are doing well.  Each day the puppies get a little bigger and we can't wait to see the little angels they become.
